We have created a virtual exhibit hall, a gallery for modern world by and for the artists who are not scared of experimenting with something new. This can be considered an experiment of its own – an ever changing, improving, updating and evolving… Perhaps not quite the fastest growing website and without constant daily new content uploads, but it does update from time to time when we find something interesting enough to be uploaded here.
Before you wander off to explore the rest of the website, let me provide short history of what was before. What you see is third iteration, born from other attempts and experiments, each expanding upon the concept of Virtual art gallery.
Previous version of the website had just clickable posters and was a simplest html page imaginable. That setup worked and was fairly good, especially as priority was on speed and getting it to work at all. Most of the content would load on separate pages to reduce the incredibly annoying “where were we again?” effect so many sites have.
Way before that all we had was an interactive instant-load 3D environment that yes, worked fine… if your definition was purely functional “users can view and experience our content”. Wasn’t perfect if users wanted more than what site had to offer at the time of their visit, so we quickly changed that and made whole heap of improvements to optimization and user experience.
Now we still try to retain clickable posters, but that is not the main way to experience what we wanted to show. Just click the picture below the poster itself and put your fingers on incredibly well-known keys: W, A, S, D. You know why and what to do with them.* “Esc” works accordingly to its name.
*alternative cursor keys are also available.
